Custom Denning hosted members of the Engineers Australia Western Sydney Regional Group (EA-WSRG) with a presentation and a personalised tour of their St Marys factory.
The day started with Mick Neskes, the National Sales Manager from Custom Denning picking up members from Engineers Australia from St Marys train station with the battery electric vehicle (BEV) model, named the Element. The tour onboard the bus and throughout the factory allowed the EA-WSRG to learn about all the various design, engineering and manufacturing processes and experience the finished product firsthand. Mick Neskes commented that; “It was a great day of discussions and knowledge sharing. We had a diverse mix of great engineers and mostly from different engineering disciplines which was fantastic, as the questions were very specific in their nature which allowed us to share our specialised knowledge”.
Custom Denning, an Australia Made certified company commenced their zero-emission journey in 2019, designing, engineering, and successfully manufacturing four new Element models. These prototypes were used to conduct trials with various contracted passenger delivery partners over the course of 2 years. The research allowed Custom Denning to meticulously refine the Element before releasing the production models to the Government and private bus operators. Now the Australian made Element is due to be exported and will boost the Australian economy by creating new jobs and reintroduce manufacturing skills that have been lost over the years. The exporting of the Element will also pave the way for the next generation of engineers to discover new production methods and technologies through practical hands on experience within the clean energy sector of the Australian manufacturing industry.
Peter Tamsett from Engineers Australia commented; “WRSG had a fantastic event exploring electric buses at Custom Denning, St Marys’ factory. The event was successfully held exploring and showcasing Western Sydney’s finest manufacturing facility. EA-WSRG would like to thank Custom Denning for hosting the event. A big thank you to Mick Neskes for a professional, educational and informative presentation and tour of the factory.”
Custom Denning is on the lookout for passionate hardworking individuals to join their expanding team.
